中國
常綠灌木，枝條圓柱形，有鉤形皮刺，葉互生，為單數羽狀複葉，小葉有柄，柄上有刺，小葉為闊卵形，先端漸尖，基部圓形，花通常數朵簇生，為紅色或玫瑰色，花瓣為倒卵形，有單瓣、重瓣等不同品種，果實為卵形或梨形，成熟前為綠色，成熟果實為橘紅色，內有種子。
花瓣色彩鮮艷，可種植於庭園供觀賞；花朵有香味，可作為香花植物栽培。
