工蟻體長約4.5~6mm，體色為褐色，略帶透明狀，體型細長，各腳細長，腹部有較深褐色的環節。
分布於平地，常於戶外走廊或人行道上活動，習慣於枯竹莖孔洞、屋外的土層中、乾涸的水溝中築巢，為多蟻后型的群落結構，由數百隻至數千隻個體所組成。是臺灣家屋螞蟻出現頻率較低的入侵型種類。
