體型為中大型，成蟲體色為褐色，上翅翅面有2條黑色橫帶，外寬內窄，中央有一個白斑。終齡體長約有12公分，全身的長長的刺毛終齡幼蟲，前胸背板兩側有2條黑色的縱向斑紋，胸部背板有2個黑色具有藍色光澤的橫斑。
分布於低中海拔山區，數量較少。
